The Analytical Services Branch (ASB) develops new analytical products to inform producers and users of social and economic data. Its major areas of focus include statistical modelling, data linkage, econometric and time series analysis, analysis of longitudinal data and construction and analysis of socio-economic indexes. The branch analyses rich datasets from censuses, surveys, and registers of administrative records, and conducts research on analysis methodology and data confidentiality methodology.
The Statistical Services Branch (SSB) provides leadership and consultancy services on the appropriate use of statistical methodology, ensuring that the methods underlying ABS outputs are based on sound statistical principles and are cost effective. Its major areas of focus include developmental work in sample design, survey processing and quality assurance for both household and economic surveys, and develop and support methods for questionnaire development and operations research.
